La Provence

Verification Audit at La Provence according to the 4C’s

In a nutshell:

We would like to congratulate La Provence on what they have achieved in the management of their lovely historical wine farm. La Provence is situated between the beautiful Franschhoek mountains, and the farm is an example of ongoing attention to maintain the ambiance of old Huguenot inheritance but also to make these available to customers (self-catering accommodation) in their strive towards sustainable use.

C1. Conservation
La Provence clearly has a policy with regard to conservation, natural and cultural. This is very clear from the way they live and work on the farm. The conservation of all historical building, wine cellar, antique furniture and equipment, artwork, books and recipes are notably well done.

C2. Community
Local functions and gatherings are often hosted. Local suppliers are supported for all stock. Most permanent and temp staff are locals. On-the-job training is provided in different areas as required. Remuneration is in accordance with the law and other perks are given from time to time. The owners actively support and encourage a healthy and sober lifestyle.

C3. Customer

Authentic experiences are promoted (wine tasting, antique car outings, tennis games,
local functions and gatherings are supported and advertised)
Many family heirlooms are displayed in the old farmhouse with some interesting stories and tales. A small private library is available for in-house reading.

C4. Company
Competent financial planning is in place. Sound management of money matters is obvious.

We welcome you at La Provence (La Provence Estate)

I am Carin and my husband, Johan, with our team like to welcome you at La Provence in the heart of the Franschhoek valley. We are the 4th generation Roux, Huguenot family, at La Provence. It is always a very special occasion sharing the 103-year history with guests as part of your convivial homestay. We will gladly guide you to other experiences in our valley which may interest you. Meet the locals.

Enjoy a private wine tasting with Johan in our cozy, historical cellar. Do relaxed hiking or a “park run“ through vineyards and orchards in the good company of our dogs while you enjoy the stay in our self-catering units called Champagne, Chardonnay, Cabernet, Rosé and Die Wyntenk.

Play tennis on our court in between the vineyards and take a splash in the reservoir dam getting its pure natural water from a spring high up in the mountain. Cool!

Our stoep has been the social place for a variety of meetings over the generations. This is where we serve breakfast, sharing fresh fruit and home recipes. Enjoy the tranquil garden view of roses, Christmas roses and flowers underneath ancient, high trees alive with the sounds of birds.

With the quaint Franschhoek town only a few minutes away, La Provence is your ideal homestay.

See you soon!
